Break the Vape - Essex Youth Vaping Pilot
We have been commissioned by Essex County Council to be a part of their Vaping Pilot.
Using the 'Break the Vape' programme, we deliver support in schools and the community to help young people increase their nicotine awareness or support nicotine reduction.
Using three different delivery methods; the 1:1 Quit Pathway for ages 11 to 18, targeted group support or one-off interactive workshops, both for ages 13 - 18, we engage with young people throughout Essex.
What do we offer?
Our 4-week group programme looks to create a safe, confidential space for young people to be able to discuss vaping.
Some of the topics focused on within the programme are:
- The effects of Nicotine on a young person’s brain
- Nicotine level knowledge
- Recognising addiction
- Harm reduction.
After accessing the group programme, if a young person identifies themselves as needing more support, they are able to self-refer for a further 4 sessions on a 1:1 Quit Pathway, which will be support tailored to the young person to help with nicotine reduction.
How do I access Break the Vape?
The Essex youth vaping 'Break the Vape' is currently offered to a small group of Essex Schools via the pilot project. If you need more information about the pilot you can contact the Vaping Service Manager on 01245 493311.
To access the self-referral pathway for one to one quit support you can complete the referral form and return it to EssexReferrals@childrenssociety.org.uk
