Youth diversion

Our Youth Diversion service is an early intervention support offer aimed at young people who require drug and alcohol education and harm reduction information; allowing them to make better informed choices before behaviours escalate.

Who is Youth Diversion for?

Youth Diversion is for young people who live in Essex, are aged 8-24 years, and:

  • Who are at risk of using substances.
  • There is a concern they may be using substances.
  • Who are using substances at a low or infrequent level.

What support do we provide?

The service offers one to one and group work in schools, the community and other appropriate venues agreed with the young person.

  • We can work with all young people, including those who may be currently known to statutory services or who have current or previous involvement with criminal justice.
  • We have tailor made education and support packages but can also offer bespoke delivery to schools and organisations who refer in to the service.
  • Though our service works with early intervention, we are a pathway service in to our more intensive substance use support service  EYPDAS (Essex Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service).
  • We can make relevant onward referrals if higher level substance use becomes known through the support offered.
