Mental health support for under 25 year olds in Birmingham

Pause drop in service

Coronavirus update

To ensure that children and young people are able to access support, we're currently operating a call-back telephone service.

If you would like to speak to someone, please call 020 784 1447 and leave your details, and one of our Well-being Practitioners will be in touch.

What is Pause?

Pause is a drop in mental health and emotional well-being service for under 25s in Birmingham. We provide easy access support for young people seven days a week. We also provide support for parents and carers who are concerned about their young person’s wellbeing.

The service provides guidance, psycho-education, signposting and strategies, to help young people improve and manage their wellbeing. We provide this support via one-to-one sessions and group workshops, both of which are accessed on a drop in basis with no appointment necessary.

We encourage young people to simply drop in at a time that suits them to check out the space, and access support if and when they are ready.

'From the minute you walk in it’s warm and welcoming. The centre is relaxing and informal. Staff are wonderful and engaging' - A young person

Our services

Our great team of youth workers, counsellors, therapists and volunteers provide young people with guidance and support relating to a wide range of mental and emotional health. This includes but is not limited to difficulties relating to depression, anxiety, anger, self-harm, bullying and family difficulties. We provide this support via one-to-one interventions and group workshops.

In addition to this, our comfortable surroundings at 21 Digbeth, also have a variety of online resources that can be accessed at our tech space in Pause. This is in addition to our reading corner which had a range of books relating to emotional health that can be read by young people and parents/carers who access the service. These sources of information are available for those service users who may not quite be ready to talk to one of our team, but who instead wish to browse and read information relating to emotional health and well-being.

The team is very passionate about empowering young people. Simply listening to the young person’s experiences or providing more formal therapeutic sessions and information can make that all important difference.

Our support is always young person focused and we work at a pace that the young person is comfortable with.

Signposting (for adults)
