Central Bedfordshire Youth Support Service

Our Youth Support Service provides youth work activities for young people aged 12-19 (and up to 25 for young people with special education needs and/or a disability) across Central Bedfordshire.

Our approach is to enable young people to reach their full potential through accessing support from trusted adults in the community.  Through our youth work activities, we hope young people will feel connected with their communities, develop a strong sense of belonging and feel empowered to have a voice in decisions which affect their lives.

What we do

Our youth work activities offer opportunities for young people to build skills for life and work so they can successfully transition to adulthood.  We deliver:

  • Groups for young people with special education needs and/or a disability (SEND)
  • Groups for young people who identify as LGBTQI+
  • Youth clubs in Arseley, Biggleswade, Sandy, Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard
  • Awareness sessions in schools
  • One to one sessions in school and in the community
  • Detached youth work in the community.

  • The SEND group at Biggleswade continues to run on Monday evenings 5.30-7.30pm at Biggleswade Youth Club, Mead End, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, SG18 8JU

Updates to our youth club provision

  • Leighton Buzzard youth group will be re-starting from Tuesday 12th November at the usual time 5.15-7.15pm. This is held at Leighton Buzzard Youth Club, Vandyke Road, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, LU7 3FU
  • Houghton Regis youth group will be re-starting from Wednesday 20th November at the usual time 5.30-7.30pm. We have moved locations and this will now run from the Village Green Pavilion, Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, LU5 5DX
  • Our youth club at Sandy and Arsley, and our LGBTQ+ group at Leighton Buzzard are in an interim pause. We will communicate regularly as and when these youth clubs will be back open and running.

When we re-open we are keen to run some engagement sessions to understand what provision young people and families would like to see moving forwards.

In addition, over the coming weeks, we will be:

  • Working alongside the Central Bedfordshire Youth team in the community to deliver support from the Engagement Van
  • Working alongside the Central Bedfordshire Town Council staff in Shefford and Flitwick
  • Visiting schools to talk about our services and how you can access support

We want to reassure you that we are fully committed to getting youth club provision back up and running as soon as possible.

Keep checking back here for updates!

Need urgent support?

A mental health crisis is an emergency that has a direct and immediate threat to your physical and emotional safety. In a situation like this, it’s important to get help quickly.

Try to stay calm and ask someone for help. It could help to tell someone you trust, maybe a family member or a friend. They can be with you and help you decide what to do. They can also contact other services on your behalf.

If there is any immediate risk to life, contact the emergency services by calling 999.
