Time for young people is our emotional wellbeing support space for young people up to the age of 18 who live and study in Gateshead. We also support care leavers and young people with disabilities up to age 25.
Growing up can be difficult. Young people may be trying to figure out who they are and where they belong. They might be facing big challenges. We're here when you're ready to talk.
How Time for young people helps
Time for young people empowers young people to take time for themselves. You can press pause, breathe, and move forward. You can choose what support you access and when.
Our trained staff can help you as soon as you’re feeling unhappy or finding things difficult. We’ll support you directly. Together, we’ll work through your problems to try and stop things getting worse
We offer a range of options that give children and young people more ways to get support, in a way that works for them.
We help you to develop new skills and provide resources to support your wellbeing. That might include finding strategies and techniques to make your life easier, like how to manage a panic attack or get better sleep. We might suggest you look at other online resources or speak to another service.

A mental health crisis is an emergency that has a direct and immediate threat to your physical and emotional safety. In a situation like this, it’s important to get help quickly.
Try to stay calm and ask someone for help. It could help to tell someone you trust, maybe a family member or a friend. They can be with you and help you decide what to do. They can also contact other services on your behalf.
If there is any immediate risk to life, contact the emergency services by calling 999.
