SCARPA: Support for young people affected by criminal and sexual exploitation
SCARPA works with children and young people who are at risk of, or experiencing, criminal or sexual exploitation across Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, and Hartlepool. We also support families, carers, and professionals.
How SCARPA can help
How SCARPA can help
Exploitation can be difficult to recognise and even harder to talk about. We provide practical, trauma-informed support to improve safety, wellbeing, and understanding.
We can help with:
- understanding exploitation, grooming, and unsafe situations
- improving safety and reducing risk
- strengthening emotional wellbeing and resilience
- helping families navigate services and safeguarding systems
- supporting professionals to respond effectively.
Who we support
We work directly with young people aged 10 to 25 who are at risk of or are experiencing criminal or sexual exploitation.
Support focuses on increasing safety, building confidence, and creating healthier future choices.
We also work with families and carers to provide guidance to help them understand exploitation and warning signs, support navigating children’s services and safeguarding processes and advice on how to support their child safely.
I didn’t know what was happening, with the grooming…I’m not hanging around with older people anymore.
