Since 2008 the Hand in Hand Project has been established in the Keighley District of Bradford. We are an experienced and committed team of practitioners with backgrounds and qualifications in social work, youth work and nursing as well as many years experience of supporting vulnerable children and young people. We are a partnership between The Children’s Society and Bradford District Care Trust. We also work closely with our partners from the voluntary and community sector, West Yorkshire Police and Children’s Social Care through our co-located work in Bradford.
The Children's Society in Keighley and Bradford Hand in Hand Project works with and supports children and young people (boys and girls) involved in and/or vulnerable to sexual exploitation in its many forms. It supports young people who are wishing to exit abusive and exploitation relationships/situations they find themselves involved/forced into. It also works preventatively with children and young people in a variety of settings as well as offering training and information sessions to groups of professionals regarding sexual exploitation.
The Children's Society in Keighley and Bradford Hand in Hand project strives to provide a safe and accessible service for children and young people involved in or vulnerable to sexual exploitation.
We treat each young person as an individual and we take an advisory, advocacy and facilitation role in supporting them to make positive changes and choices in their lives.
We work in partnership with appropriate services to ensure the best possible outcomes for the children and young people we support, with safeguarding being our guiding principle. By offering a long term, consistent service with clear boundaries we endeavour to give the children and young people we work with the support they require and a voice that is heard.
