Staying active as a volunteer during lockdown

While normal volunteering is on hold at the moment, there are still so many ways that our amazing volunteers can take action for vulnerable young people, stay connected and keep learning

Here are a few things you can do while at home:

Join the Community Awareness Network

You can join our team and help us keep children and young people safe from exploitation. Find out more about the Community Awareness Network.

Join our campaigning movement

Sign up for our regular campaign updates so you can put your voice to the issues we are fighting for. You could even become one of our growing network of Campaign Champions who will soon be doing things virtually.

Spread the word on social media

If you are on social media, join the conversation and help us to spread the word:

If you are able to, please share our Emergency Coronavirus Appeal with anyone you know who you is concerned about young people in these times and might want to stand with us.

Learn more about life for young people today and how you can help

The challenges and the risks facing young people in our communities are real and many people don’t even see them. Take some time to understand the risks, spot the signs and know what to do.

Once you know, tell others and be a champion for children in your community:

Listen to the voices of young people themselves

We’ve partnered with Central St Martins to create a series of powerful short animated films that bring the voices of young people to life as they share their experiences.

Please watch them and share them.

Help us showcase the impact of volunteering by sharing your experience

Our volunteers blog is full of inspiring stories of the amazing contribution of our volunteers and the difference it makes to them.

Could you share your experience of volunteering with us?  Have you kept volunteering remotely during lockdown? Email our Volunteering Team at volunteeringteam@childrenssociety.org.uk.

Keep learning

All of our volunteers have access to our brilliant online learning platform The Children’s Society’s Learning Zone where there are dozens of excellent online courses to help with your volunteering as well as your personal and professional development.

If you haven’t got on there yet just email volunteeringteam@childrenssociety.org.uk and we’ll set you up.

Look after yourselves and your loved ones

We are all facing our own challenges in these uncertain and anxious making times and need to look after ourselves and friends and family.

Check out our Coronavirus Information and Support Hub for advice and guidance on staying safe and well and please share it with anyone who would benefit.
