Find out more about becoming a box coordinator

An old collection box beside a new collection box

Interested in becoming a box coordinator? Here are some useful tips about getting your box network started:

  1. Think about the special people you’d love to be part of your network. Remember, opening your boxes is a great excuse to get your friends together – so think of those special people you want to guarantee seeing once or twice a year.
  2. Once you have an idea of the people you can ask, you will need to order your free box resources. All the information you need will be in your Welcome Pack once you have registered as a Box Coordinator. If you haven’t registered already, sign up now
  3. We’ll send you as many boxes as you need along with stickers and re-seal labels. Once these are in place, you’re ready to start giving out your boxes.
  4. Each new box holder will need to complete a registration form (included in your welcome pack). It’s really helpful for us to keep up-to-date with your network, so please let us know about any changes that take place during the year.
  5. Pick a date and gather your network to open your boxes. This can be once, twice or more regularly throughout the year, but is a very special way to stay connected with one another.

Recruiting box holders

There are lots of ways you could recruit box holders but it’s important to find the ways that work best for you. Here are some ideas for getting your network started:

  • Ask your family and friends to get involved
  • Make an announcement in a church service
  • Arrange for a speaker from The Children’s Society to give a talk
  • Put an advert in a newsletter or local newspaper
  • Host a community event
  • Use our free resources to advertise
