Our practitioners find that sexting is a growing method of grooming for sexual exploitation of young people, and it becomes a tool of coercion, threat and power. Young people are encouraged to take pictures or videos of themselves, initially often for a financial reward or because they are groomed into thinking the person is their boyfriend. This increases the risk of children and young people running away from home or care.
