The risks faced by older young people are likely to be quite different to those faced by very young children and therefore ensuring the safety of these young people requires specific attention. However, child protection research has paid relatively little attention to this issue. The study described in this report was intended to fill this research gap.

Consultation response on support for victims of domestic abuse in Greater Manchester

Support for victims of domestic abuse must take into account the needs of children and young people. Children may need support to deal with the psychological impact of abuse, build self-esteem and develop personal safety plans and support networks. We believe that more services are needed for very young children and older teenagers.
