It has been a longstanding concern for the Refugee Children’s Consortium that separated children in the immigration process, including children who may have been trafficked, do not have access to a legal guardian to ensure that their best interests are met. We support amendment 57, which aims to establish a requirement for legal advocates for child victims of human trafficking.
