Funded by Northern Gas Networks, this service helps those struggling to make ends meet in budgeting for essentials like heating their homes

Often, people in this situation are vulnerable to other issues including debt, unemployment and poor mental health. The service provides a mix of one-to-one support and group work, mentoring by volunteers and bi-monthly drop-in sessions, which are open to everyone in the community.

Who is this service available to?

The service currently operates in Newcastle and Sunderland. It offers financial education and one-to-one support to help young people aged 16 and over to move towards independence, improves the employability of those aged 15 and above, and offers safety awareness sessions for young people aged 10 and over. The service will operate in County Durham from February 2018.

How to access this service

Referrals can be made by professionals from any agency. Young people can also self-refer and anyone can attend a drop-in session which will be publicised in the community in advance.
