Our work in the South and South West

We have worked across the South and South West of England for over 125 years, supporting children and young people suffering extreme hardship, abuse and neglect.

Despite being home to some of the UK’s most affluent communities, in the South and South West of England there are still over 250,000 children and young people living in poverty, and 350,000 young people living with mental health and emotional well-being needs. From Kent to Cornwall, we run local services to support young people at risk of sexual exploitation or harm, living in care, or let down by the systems meant to protect them.

We achieve this by:

  • understanding local need
  • building on the strengths and expertise of our organisation
  • working with our partners in the area, including local authorities, the police, health authorities, the third sector and churches
  • mobilising the commitment of our staff, volunteers and supporters
  • working to have the greatest possible impact on the lives of children and young people - this involves delivering innovative, integrated, sustainable programmes of work focused on addressing childhood poverty and adolescent neglect.
