Our Fresh Step service works with girls and young women aged 15-25, who have experienced or are at risk of CSE and are leaving care or custody

Who is this service for?

We work with young women who live in or are placed in one of the following boroughs:

  • Hackney
  • Newham
  • Islington
  • Enfield
  • Tower Hamlets
  • Camden
  • Haringey.

The young women should belong to one of the following categories:

  • Leaving custody (from either remand or actual sentence) or recently left and on a licence
  • Leaving/left care
  • Leaving a secure unit, training centre, youth offending institution or prison
  • Had experience of sexual violence and/or are at risk of sexual exploitation

What support does the service provide?

We deliver one-to-one support and groupwork consisting of intensive relationship based support using both gender and trauma-informed approaches.

We aim to:

  • To explore and understand gender roles, stereotypes and gender norms
  • To increase self-esteem, confidence and resilience
  • To develop an understanding of healthy and safe relationships
  • To support mental and emotional wellbeing
  • To empower young women in their understanding on keeping safe
  • To work towards building a secure support network
  • To help build positive relationships between professionals and young women.
