Our Preventative Programme  in Yorkshire aims to raise awareness of CSE and its risks

What our programme aims to do

  • raise awareness of sexual exploitation and the associated risk
  • help with the early identification of grooming or vulnerability to sexual exploitation
  • contribute to better responses for children and young people at risk, ideally before any abuse takes place or risk escalates.

We do this in two ways:

  1. Targeted group support to young people
  2. Bespoke training aimed at professionals.

Who is this service available to?

Young people with an identified vulnerability to CSE.

Sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the group but topics may include:

  • sex
  • consent and the law
  • healthy/unhealthy relationships
  • internet safety and other digital issues
  • drugs
  • alcohol
  • CSE

The programme also includes:

  • A CSE awareness briefing covering a range of issues including: what is child sexual exploitation and grooming? What are the risks and indicators? What are effective strategies to support young people affected by it?
  • A bespoke half-day training session tailored to the needs of the group of professionals. The session explores the issues covered in the CSE awareness briefing plus additional topics such as sexting, pornography, young people with learning disabilities and young people from minority backgrounds.
