Missing from Home services in Greater Manchester

Project worker with young female

We provide personalised preventative and targeted support to children and young people who are at risk of and/or have gone missing or run away from home or care.  We focus on the ‘push’ factors such as abuse, bullying or family conflict and ‘pull’ factors like grooming in order to combat the underlying causes of running away and prevent problems escalating.

Who is this service available to?

The services we provide vary across Greater Manchester.  In Manchester and Wigan we provide Return Interview services to young people who have gone missing for the first time. Also in Manchester, we have a Street Team who go out to city centre hotspots to talk to young people about staying safe and how to access services and support.

In other areas of Greater Manchester we offer intensive support to young people who have gone missing or are at risk. We also provide a therapist from our Resolve counselling service specifically to support young people in this situation.

Our Footsteps service offers an enhanced service in all 10 boroughs in Greater Manchester for young people who have gone missing between two and five times in the last 12 months.
