'Mum threw me out on my birthday. She just woke up and kicked me out.'
Jada was just 11 when her older sisters were put into care. Jada stayed living under the care of her mum who misused alcohol. Every day, she would face physical, mental and emotional abuse.

Because it felt unsafe for her to be home, Jada started running away when she was 15. On the streets, she was at severe risk of being recruited into criminal and sexual exploitation.
On her 16th birthday, Jada woke up to her mum shouting at her to leave the house. Distressed and with nowhere to go, she left home without her things and went into school.

Please donate to help young people like Jada who go missing from home.

Homeless at just 16 years old, Jada was given an emergency placement. Without anyone around her for support, she was unable to recover from the trauma she had experienced at home and she continued running away.

Jada was introduced to her The Children’s Society project worker during a return home interview. Jada and Kirsten built a trusting and stable relationship, something she had never had before.

Kirsten has been able to find Jada a job placement with a local business, where she’s now undertaking a work skills qualification. In the future Jada is hoping to go to University to study Psychology.
'The Children’s Society support and advice has been invaluable and the great thing is, they are all so approachable and always at the end of a phone.' - Jada
