On Saturday, 6th June at 11am tenacious ten-year-old Kaashni Sivendran, from Hayes will be attempting to smash a world record that would leave many in a spin!

The Brookside Primary School pupil is the current Guinness World Record Hula Hoop Champ 2018, after hula hooping for three minutes and clocking up a staggering 617 revolutions.

This year she is back for more and is attempting to beat the current world record for the most hula hooping around her knees, which is currently held by a record breaker in India. She has so far raised a staggering £1,000 for The Children’s Society and has received warm wishes from the Mayor of Hillingdon amongst many others. She plans to beat the current record of 194 revolutions around her knees in one minute and will spin for three minutes.

Her proud mum Rupa said, “Kaashni never fails to make us and her school proud. She is a quiet, dedicated and independent child. She was inspired to fundraise after seeing Captain Tom Moore on TV. She said she wanted to do something to help children.”

Kaashni, who received a letter of congratulations from Her Majesty the Queen following her 2018 Guinness World Record success has been training hard for the event.

Due to lockdown it will be live streamed on her mum’s public Facebook, with all social distancing rules being maintained.

Talking about the challenge, she said, “All children have the right to be happy and feel safe at all times. I am on a mission to help support children who are not as lucky as I am.”

Mark Russell, Chief Executive of The Children’s Society, said, “What an amazing challenge Kaashni has set herself. It is so inspiring to hear that someone so young wants to help other children. We want to send her a big thank you. We will be cheering you on, Kaashni and wish you all the luck in the world.”
