Video: Why I volunteer

Lyn is a voluntary volunteer coordinator for our Essex services, this week she is celebrating with her great team of volunteers.

It is amazing to see how dedicated our volunteers are at The Children's Society East.

Most have full time jobs and still give their all each week, making a huge impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the county.

I am so proud of the dedication, drive, patience and positivity of every one of them.

Please watch the video below to find out more about our volunteers working with children and families:

Filming this video highlighted the wide variety of reasons why people choose to volunteer with children and young people in our services, and the different skills, experience and personalities they bring to the service.

Your background and experience is not as important as your enthusiasm to improve the lives of vulnerable young people.

Just a small amount of time given can have an enormous impact on both our young people and our volunteers themselves.

All volunteers are given the necessary training and supervision to equip them with the necessary tools when working with young people and their families.

At The Children's Society East we work with vulnerable children and young people at risk of harm or substance use and misuse issues.  We also work with parents and carers where their young people’s drug use or behaviour is having a chaotic impact on the whole family.

Our fantastic volunteers support the service, enabling us to continue this important work and go on to reach more young people.

We hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed making it, and that it might inspire you to see yourself as one of our wonderful volunteers at The Children's Society across the country.
