Special night at the theatre with The Children’s Society for Firebird

We were thrilled to be joined by a group of famous faces for an exclusive performance of Firebird, followed by a special post-show Q and A alongside the artistic team.

Our Royal President Her Royal Highness (HRH) The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO joined us on this special night in support of our work.

Celebrity guests included EastEnders stars Tamzin Outhwaite and Laurie Brett, psychologist Linda Papadopoulos, actor Cherrelle Skeete, and YouTuber and model Talia Michaels.

Firebird is the first ever West End production about child sexual exploitation. Written by Phil Davies and directed by Ed Hall, the play shines a light on the desperately misunderstood issues of how teenagers can be harmed.

Review highlights

'The sexual exploitation of teenagers in the UK is a grim reality that many would rather ignore, but this play brings it to light with rare eloquence.' The Londonist.

'We feel her sense that one older man is no more trustworthy than another. We feel her loneliness.' The Times.

'The play about Rochdale child sex rings leaves us with just a smidgen of hope that the protagonist will rise from the ashes.' The Independent.

Help us stop child sexual exploitation

We are campaigning to make sure the law protects children from exploitation.

Right now, the Policing and Crime Bill is a vital opportunity for the Government to strengthen the protections and improve the support for 16 and 17 year olds at risk of sexual exploitation.
