Raising money, supporting Make Runaways Safe during RAG Week

RAG Week is a fantastic time when students at universities and colleges across the UK raise money for charities. Many students enjoy RAG Week so much that it lasts all year round!

National RAG Conference

The annual RAG Conference will be taking place this year at Durham University from the 5-8 September. Some staff from The Children's Society will be at the event to raise awareness of our Make Runaways Safe campaign and also to encourage 'raggies' to do some fundraising to support our work.

RAG is an excellent way to have fun, make friends and gain valuable skills and experience.

I was involved with RAG when I was a student at the University of York. I remember going along to the Freshers' Fair without an idea of which clubs or societies to join. RAG was free and offered 'free' trips to other cities asking only that I stood with a collecting tin for a few hours. It seemed like great fun so I got involved.

I basically went from rattling a tin to becoming Treasurer then the Sabbatical RAG President and later the national RAG Conference Organiser. Ultimately it set me on my current career path as a fundraiser. Most importantly I raised money for some fantastic causes and gained life-long friends.

Do say hello!

If you're attending the national RAG Conference, do come and say hello at our stall and sign up to our runaways campaign. You'll also receive a goody bag and you could win a prize too!
