Our new partnership with Bethnal Green Ventures

We have joined forces with Bethnal Green Ventures (BGV) to unlock new ways of using technology that may address some of the most serious issues facing vulnerable young people today.

The power of technology

It is a painful fact that too many children and young people today are suffering extreme hardship, abuse and neglect. Too often their problems are ignored and their voices unheard.

using technology to address solutions that can break cycles of disadvantage facing young people

Rising thresholds to access services, failing to recognise multiple challenges and an inability to engage young people can all result in missed opportunities for early intervention for the most vulnerable.

Technology can act as a double edged sword - providing a gateway to issues young people face, while simultaneously opening up pathways for opportunities to help these young people thrive.

Combining forces to break the cycle of disadvantage

Our new partnership with BGV will support emerging startups by using technology to address solutions that can break cycles of disadvantage facing young people.

We will combine our insight into issues faced by young people with BGV’s expertise in identifying and accelerating technology ventures.

This partnership will:

  • Find and select teams with great ideas for using technology to improve the lives of vulnerable young people and the systems they are operating in
  • Provide £20,000 investment and support to help teams test and develop their ideas, through BGV’s established startup accelerator programme
  • Provide opportunities to design solutions in collaboration with large groups of young people and practitioners, through our wide network.

Get involved

The 12 week accelerator programme runs twice a year and applications for the autumn programme are now open.

The deadline for applications is Sunday 18 June 2017.

If you missed the application deadline, we are still very much interested in hearing about your ideas for a social tech venture to support vulnerable young people, so please do email our Accelerating Impact Lead, Kirsten Naude, or call 078 6077 9304.
