Our history with child refugees

Refugee children in the archives

The Children’s Society has been around for over 130 years. For all those years we have kept an archive with all the documents, letters, pamphlets and other materials that we produce. This amazing treasure trove contains information about some of the first children we supported in 1881 right up to things we have published this year. To celebrate our partnership with the Guardian and Observer’s charity appeal for child refugees we have looked back through the dusty shelves and old files to explore the many ways in which we have helped refugee and migrant children throughout our history.
