‘O holy night! The stars are brightly shining’

There is nothing that stirs the soul and encapsulates Christmas quite like this carol, at least in my opinion.

Carols have such an uplifting and powerful place in Advent. It’s a great social opportunity too. Joining together and singing can bring such great joy and well-being benefits to boot.

You could sing with friends, colleagues, family or join in a local church service. And we’ve got some fantastic carol singing resources to make your experience all the more enjoyable.

Well-being and mental health

Social participation in religious activity has a clear and strong positive correlation across all measures of well-being. You can read more about this in Theo's recent summary of 139 academic studies into religion, well-being and mental health.

Get two for one - if you carol sing for The Children's Society then the money you raise will support young people’s well-being and mental health.
