BenevoLent: I've given up quite the list!

Hi, I’m Louise. Every year I give something up for Lent, but for the first time I wanted to see how much I actually spend on all the treats I eat. This year for lent I've given up

  • Chocolate
  • Cakes
  • Crisps
  • Biscuits
  • Sweets
  • Ice cream
  • Brownies
  • Flapjacks
  • Hot chocolate
  • McDonalds

Quite a list right? I think that's everything. I have to give up so many things otherwise I just eat more of one thing. The first time I ever did lent I gave up chocolate and ate loads of crisps and biscuits instead!

This year it's going really well. 

Yay! I'm snacking loads less and eating fruit when I'm hungry rather than cake. It's been a bit hard at work as there's always treats around and opportunities to give into temptation, but it's really satisfying staying strong. Now, I don't even crave any of the things I've given up, which is brilliant! 

Fingers crossed I can keep it up for the next week or so – I’m definitely counting down to Easter now. And if I have a wobbly moment, as cakes get passed around the office or a stressful day leaves me craving chocolate, looking back at what I’m saving on BenevoLent and thinking about the treats to come at Easter does the trick! 

Having said that, the real test is going to be next week when I head off on holiday with my family. There will be lots of baked goodies calling my name but I’ll need to stay strong for just a bit longer!
