Are you what we’re looking for?

We know that power lies with people locally to change the areas they live for the better, and to influence the decision makers elected to represent in those areas.

Why not give a little bit of your time and make a massive difference for vulnerable children across the country?

Become a ‘Campaign Champion’

This is an exciting new role and we hope that you’ll be able to join us, or share with people you know who might want to support our campaigns.

We are looking forward to engaging people like you to take action in your local communities to support our campaigns.

What you’d need to do

We’ll ask you to participate in around four activities a year, although you can get involved in more if you want to.

This might include:

Visiting your local MP. We can help you arrange a meeting where you’ll be able to tell your MP about the work of The Children’s Society and why it matters to you. You might also visit local councillors or even go along to local council meetings.

Organising a local event. This could be organising a stunt, arranging for one of our volunteer speakers to come and talk about our work, holding a stall in your local town centre, or even a street party or music event to engage your local community, friends and family.

Attending local meetings. You could join up with local groups or committees already active in your area, linking up campaigning with local fundraising or awareness-raising initiatives.

Reaching out to others. Tell them about The Children’s Society work and engage them in gathering petitions, letter writing or even becoming Campaign Champions too.

What support you will get

When you sign up to be one of our Campaigns Champions we’ll make sure you have the support you need to speak to your MP, organise events, or to talk to other people about our campaigns including packs of materials, bespoke training, and opportunities to network with other campaigners and supporters.

We also have great online guides, that you can download or share with other keen campaigners. So if you're not sure where to start take a look.

We know that volunteering looks great on your CV, so we’ll also provide a reference for you.

Why this is important

Local campaigning helps to strengthen our national campaigns and enables us to build lots of support in the communities that we work in.

MPs want to hear from their local constituents, and it’s their job to listen to you.

By becoming a Campaign Champion you’ll help us to ensure that our campaigns are on their agenda.

You’ll also help us to raise awareness of our campaigns, and build support in your community.

Get involved

To become a Campaign Champion you’ll need to be able to commit some time to take part in campaign actions, but this can be flexible around your other commitments.

To sign up complete this simple form and we’ll be in touch with you soon.

Please also share this with anyone you think would make a great Campaign Champion.
