Lurine Cato Supports Christingle

Lurine Cato, the UK’s Queen of Gospel, is calling on us all to get involved in Christingle this year, to help lift children out of poverty.

Supporting Christingle

I’m supporting The Children’s Society’s annual festive campaign, Christingle, which is raising money for the charity’s work with children whose lives are blighted by poverty. For many of us, Christmas is a time of plenty with lots of presents under the tree, plenty of food to eat and lots of joy and laughter. But for almost 4 million children in the UK, these types of images couldn’t be further away from their reality.

The Children’s Society’s work highlights the struggles faced by millions of families struggling at this time of year. For the past 40 years, Christingle events across the country have revolved around children decorating Christingle oranges which have a red ribbon, cocktail sticks and sweets, as well as a candle to highlight the different parts of the Christian story. There are thousands of Christingle events in schools and churches across the country providing a wonderful opportunity for young children to grandparents to get involved and where families and communities can enjoy celebrating together.

These heart-warming events are also a wonderful opportunity to help raise money for families who are struggling to make ends meet. Many of these families are living in your community, so please do your part in supporting them by getting involved in your local Christingle event.

Christingle also offer us a refreshing reminder of what Christmas is about, with the Christingle candle symbolising the light of Jesus coming into the world because of God’s love for us.

Blessings to you at Christmas.
