How can a young carer service help me?

If you are a child or young person that spends time supporting a member of your family or a friend with everyday tasks because they are ill or disabled then you are a young carer.

Being a young carer is an important and selfless job. Many young carers find it rewarding and learn skills from what they do. But it can also  get in the way of school, social life and even health. This is when you may think of finding a service that can offer:

  • Opportunities to meet with other young carers
  • Counselling by a professional counsellor
  • Training courses and workshops
  • Peer support groups
  • Leisure activities
  • A young carers forum

So, if you are a young carer and you think any of the above would benefit you, find a service near you.

Our nationwide young carer programme

Our Include programme helps young carers, families and those who work with young carers. We know caring for someone can be tough. It can be tiring and difficult to find time for other things, like school work or hanging out with friends, let alone planning for the future. So we help with all of that.

For more information, take a look at our young carer advice pages. If you can't find what you're looking for, email the Include team or call on 01962 711511.
