Lauren's Story

Lauren's Story

Lauren was referred to our Hand in Hand project in Yorkshire at 13, when teachers noticed a change in her behaviour. She had started hanging out with an older group of friends and was skipping school.

Lauren had become the target for a group of older men. They would follow her home at night and try and get her into their car. She witnessed friends being taken out of Yorkshire to London and Blackpool, and groomed with drink and drugs.

We gave Lauren the confidence to bring these criminals to justice by bravely speaking out in their trials for grooming. She continues to work with our project workers and is planning to attend college to study health and social care.
