Sometimes the pressures of life, family, growing up, relationships or experiencing losses can become too much. Abuse, bullying, bereavement or isolation can lead to difficult feelings and behaviours, your mood might feel low or you feel nervous and anxious.

At times, everyone feels worried or has problems that may be hard to talk about with the people close to you, this is when you may think about talking to someone from Checkpoint.

We have a number of staff who can work with you to improve your emotional wellbeing, we can help you to start to think and feel differently and support you to make the changes in your life.

What we do

We can work with you in lots of ways to improve your emotional wellbeing.

We see lots of young people who are worried or sad or find it difficult to manage how they are feeling.

We use Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which means we find links between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to make positive changes.

How we can help to make change in your life

Depending on how you are feeling and your age, these are some things we can do to help you:

  • Finding out what is important to you and making sure this happens in your life.
  • We can help you to look at your thoughts and how to stop bad thoughts and change them to good thoughts.
  • Working together we can help you to overcome your fears by talking about what makes them scary and then practicing how to beat them.
  • We can provide supported to parents/carers to help them understand your behaviours and how to manage them and to help them to help you to work on overcoming your fears and worries.

We will ask you what is important to you and what you would like to work on.

We will help you make some goals and together, we will find the best way of working towards these goals.

Contact us

You can contact us by telephone or drop into our office.

Once you have done that we will ask you to fill in some questionnaires and ask how you have been feeling and how this has affected you. This is so that they can find out how best to help you.
