The Children's Society, Oldham, honoured in awards ceremony

Many congratulations to The Children's Society, Oldham, who have been honoured in a national awards ceremony in London. Shaw and Crompton Children's Centre came runner-up in the 'children's centre team of the year' section at the Children's Stars Awards 2010.

The award ceremony was run by children's charity 4Children as part of its "Shout Out 4Children Week" and is supported by the Department for Education.

Our centre was praised for its excellent quality of childcare and also commended for its work in providing opportunities for community participation.

The centre was described as providing 'a warm, welcoming and encouraging atmosphere that helps to nurture confidence and wellbeing in children and staff alike'.

The awards scheme, run annually, rewards motivated and inspirational local heroes who work tirelessly to improve the lives of children and young people. The awards ceremony was held at a gala dinner in London hosted by BBC political correspondent Reeta Chakrabarti. Many congratulations to all involved.
