Getting involved

Orgainising a Collection for children

We're looking for dedicated people to spare a few hours to organise a collection in your local community. Why not bring together a group of family, friends, neighbours, work or club colleagues and organise a collection in your area? We can provide you with all the fundraising materials you'll need to do the job.

House-to-house collections…

House-to-house collections using envelopes which are dropped through letterboxes and then picked up at a later date is the most successful way to collect.

You can do it in 6 easy steps:

  1. Co-ordinate your team of collectors
  2. Decide which areas are to be covered and who is going to do what.
  3. Work out the materials you will need to do your collection and order them
  4. Meet your team and distribute the materials accordingly.
  5. Once the collection is over, arrange to meet your collectors to gather all envelopes and other materials
  6. Open all envelopes and boxes in the presence of a witness, check amounts, record all details and bank the money raised.
Other collections…

Alternatively why not collect through one of the following easy methods:

  • Desk to desk collection - distribute envelopes to colleagues at work or take a collection box around and ask for a donation in return for a lapel label (which we can supply)
  • Collecting at events - collect at a social event or at your local club
  • Pew to pew collection - ask your local church to put envelopes out on the pews or donate a retiring collection
  • Community groups - approach local community groups such as your local Lions club, Rotary Club or Mother's Union to see if they will help collect
  • Street collection - take a collection box to your local town centre, railway station or supermarket to collect.
