Singing together to make childhood better
Imagine
What would life be like if you were a child who felt forced to run away from home to flee abuse? Or to be a child living alone in a strange country having escaped their homeland for fear of persecution. Or if you were a young person caring for a chronically ill parent?
The children and young people we work with often suffer from low self-esteem and feel alone, isolated or discriminated against.
All our projects are child centred. We focus on the requirements of those that we work with. We understand that different children call for different solutions and that one size doesn't fit all. To help us meet these needs, many of our projects use music to interact and engage with children and young people.
Using music
From using music therapy with young refugees to explore their fears and inspirations, to our Karaoke competition at our annual Young Carers Festival, music plays an important part in establishing a sense of trust and connection with the children we work with. Our children's centres use music and singing to aid children's development and encourage mother and child interaction.
