“If you have never been to Durham, go at once. Take my car. It's wonderful.”
Bill Bryson, Notes on a Small Island

Thank you...
...to everyone who supported the very first Walk & Explore Durham event this year. The weather was perfect, lots of fun was had and most importantly, we raised lots of money to help fund our vital work with children– in short, a fantastic day!
Hopefully, lots of you will have raised sponsorship money to help fund our 58 projects around the country. If you’ve not already done so, you can pay in your sponsor money here.
For those that missed Walk & Explore Durham 2008, we will hopefully be back next year, so watch this space for more information! If you can't wait until then though, why not register to Organise-Your-Own Walk & Explore.
Walk & Explore Durham, 2008
2008 was the first year of Walk & Explore Durham and we loved sharing its 4,000 years of history with you. To get a flavour of the day, take a look at some of the great pictures we have from the day.
Both of the walking adventures centred around Durham Castle and Cathedral, encompassing some of the city’s greatest sights, from major landmarks to lesser-known treasures.
With costumed characters re-telling the myths and legends of Durham, from stories of Prince Bishops to tales of Saints and reliquaries, Walk & Explore Durham was a fantastic day for all.
In addition to the walks themselves, there was lots of entertainment on offer and our Art and Fun Tent hosted face painting, games and arts and craft .
Confirmed free attractions included:
FREE ENTRY to The Oriental Museum
FREE ENTRY to The Botanic Gardens
