Fundraising hints and tips
There’s more to fundraising than your sponsorship form so whether you’re planning on raising money at home, at school or at work, take a look at some of our favourite ways to fundraise to bump up your total…
At home…
Have an Odd Jobs Day! Wash the dog for a walk, polish the car, clean the windows or offer to water the garden plants all for a small fee that goes straight into your fundraising pot!
Organise a quiz at your local pub and ask every entrant to pay £1– maybe the landlord or landlady will donate a prize!
Hold an afternoon tea or a lemonade stall either as part of another local summer fête or just in your own garden for friends and neighbours. You could make your own invitations and have party games on offer for a small charge.
At school…
Arrange a mufti day with a twist – why not suggest a day at your school where pupils can wear what they like but teachers have to wear school uniform!
Does your school already hold a charity day or non-uniform day? It could provide the perfect platform for you to hold an activity or challenge to gain extra funds. ‘Guess how many sweets in the jar’ or ‘Guess the teddy’s weight’ always get a great response
Why not see if one of your teachers (or even the Head!) would be a good sport and do something funny to help your fundraising efforts. Maybe they’d shave their beard or wear a silly outfit for the day if pupils sponsor enough money to see it happen!
At work…
Organise an endurance sports day at work, maybe even a triathlon, and get teams or departments to compete against each other. Maybe your colleagues would enjoy a football or netball tournament.
Hold an exercise class in the boardroom after work. Borrow the TV and DVD player and put on an exercise DVD which you and your colleagues can all follow together. This is much cheaper than the gym and much more fun than a solo work-out at home!
Ask your colleagues to sponsor you to make a fool of yourself for the day. If they reach your target amount then you’ll go to work in your pyjamas, have a painted face all day or do the tea round for a month! You could even grow a beard or moustache for a week or get an elaborate new hair do?
