Walking with your church

Every year The Children's Society receives fantastic support from The Church community and every year we are able to raise more money through your incredible support. Countless church groups joined our walking events last year and we hope to welcome back even more of you for the 2008 Walk & Explore series.

The partnership between the church and The Children's Society has always been a strong one and it is through events like Walk & Explore that The Children's Society hopes to offer the church community the opportunity to work with children and young people and support the work of The Children's Society with children outside the church.

Join us
There are lots of ways your church can support Walk & Explore this summer.

  • Organise a group from your local church to register for one of the Walk & Explore events.

The choice of walking routes and the variety of entertainment on the day means that Walk & Explore is the perfect summer’s day out for the entire community. To make registration easier, we recommend that larger groups (five people or more) register by giving us a call on 0845 300 1128 or complete a postal registration form.   • Volunteer to work at one of our organised events. Read more about the volunteering opportunities available
  • Organise a collection in your church (download paying-in forms from the right hand side)

Organise-Your-Own
If you can’t make any of the organised events, you can organise your own Walk & Explore event wherever and whenever you chose with our Organise-Your-Own pack. It’s free to register and we’ll give you lots of support, from themed-walk ideas to health and safety tips and diet and training ideas. Read more about Organise-Your-Own Walk & Explore.

Promote
We also need your help to promote the Walk & Explore events to your local community. If you’re hoping to organise your own parish group, why not

  • Run an article in your parish newsletter to drum up support?

On the right-hand-side of this page you can download a press release to give you an idea of what to say.

  • Forward this press release to any contacts you have in the community who write other newsletters or columns in the local press.
  • Put up a Walk & Explore poster on your church notice boards. You can download a poster here
  • Send a Walk & Explore email-flyer to any of your friends or contacts, which you can download from here.
  • Distribute flyers to you local community. Please call 0845 300 1128 or email us to order some flyers.
  • Give a talk in you church about The Children's Society and how you can all enjoy Walk & Explore this summer.
