Who takes part?
Everyone and anyone, some runs specify a minimum age of 16 years or 18 years old (please check individual event for details). We also welcome registrations from groups wanting to run as a team.
What is a gold bond place?
A gold bond is a guaranteed entry into a run. These are places that The Children's Society has paid for in advance. To recoup these costs The Children's Society encourages runners to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship.
What do you mean by an own place entry?
This is where an individual obtains their own entry into a run either through a ballot or by general application. The Children's Society encourages runners with their own place to raise as much as they can for us.
What do I get if I run for The Children's Society?
All runners receive a sponsorship pack to include a running vest, fundraising and training advice and invitations to post race parties where applicable. We are on hand to offer ongoing support where we can.
What does my registration fee go towards?
Your registration fee covers all organisational and administrative costs. It is not included in your sponsorship total and there is a strict no-refund or transfer policy.
What pre event information will I receive?
All runners, (guaranteed entry and own place runners) receive a sponsorship pack. From registration through to the date of your run and beyond we maintain contact with you via a regular newsletter, updating you on all the latest information and important facts in preparation for your event.
What happens if I get an injury?
Should you unfortunately have to pull out due to illness or injury you must contact us immediately. For anyone running on a guaranteed entry The Children's Society will receive an additional entry for the following year and we will be happy to consider you for this place.
What if I want to take part in a run that's not listed?
Contact the events team on 0207 841 4507 and we'll try to give you as much information as possible about your event and securing your own place through ballot. Once your place is confirmed we can send you a running pack to get you started with helpful hints on raising sponsorship.
