Have you ever thought of volunteering at one of our events? Every year The Children's Society takes part in a wide range of sporting events, including the Virgin London Marathon, the BUPA Great North Run and our very own Walk and Explore.
We could always do with volunteers to help us on the day - such as making as much noise as possible at our cheering posts, marshalling our walking route, and performing sports massage on our runners’ tired legs at the finish line.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone can volunteer. All you need are bundles of energy and the desire to get behind a fantastic cause.
To ensure you are well prepared for the day, we will give you:
- an induction to help you in your role
- supervision, support and flexibility for the jobs you want to do
- refunds on reasonable travel expenses to and from the venue
- written references on request to boost your CV.
Are you are currently training in any sports therapy, massage, or physiology?
Nothing looks better on your CV than volunteering at a high-profile event. You can develop and use your skills whilst supporting a fantastic cause. As a masseur on the day of a race, the workload will certainly keep you on your toes, but it can also be a great opportunity to network with other professionals in your field.
