Lymington committee's concert
Our Lymington committee organised a night of classical and modern music for their community to enjoy. The concert, performed by the Zing Choir, was held in the beautiful church of St Thomas, a central location that is perfect for concerts. The cost was £12 for the event including a glass of champagne or soda during the intermission. The church was completely filled with 250 people.
Organisation and promotion tips
The choir charged £200 to perform. Everything else was covered by different sponsorships throughout the community. In-house printing for invitations saved a large expense. In the end the event raised around £3000 pounds!
A team of six from the committee worked together to organise all the sponsors, choir and promotion. The group sends invitations out around the community which helps to raise even more money because even if the individual can not attend they will often send a donation. Selling tickets at local stores is also a great way to increase the popularity.
Special touch
For a great event, the committee's chair, Joy, says that you'll need some sort of entertainment that people want to see and preferably a groups that will give you a good deal to support The Children's Society. At another event for example, magicians only charged £60 for the five of them for the entire evening of magic.
