Fundraising groups and committees

young girl and the words 'Fun, fundraising and friends'

Fundraising groups are run by people who use their passion, time and creativity to organise events to raise vital funds and awareness for The Children’s Society.

Whether you want to organise coffee mornings, golf days, dinner parties, open gardens, quiz nights, fancy dress parties, dance-a-thons, Christmas-tree festivals or something else, its easy to set up a fundraising group. All you need is enthusiasm, energy and the desire to help children and young people.

Each group is different, but most groups meet up every month or so to plan fundraising events around their interests and to get their community together.

Whether you're part of an existing group or considering starting one with friends, these pages will give you lots of ideas for your events.

Ideas to help when organising your event

We have compiled a list of ideas for events for you, examples of other groups' events from across the country.

Ideas for events are categorised by:

  • Seasonal events (eg Christmas tree festivals, Mothering Sunday)
  • Group events (events for your friends and family)
  • Larger community events (events open to a large group of people, including the general public)
  • Individually organised events (although you may need a little help!)

These ideas for events can provide practical advice and inspiration for the type of event you choose to organise.

Our featured event

Among all of our ideas for events, this month we are focusing on the Melksham committee's cake bake

Find out how Trish and the team deliver lots of sweet treats to raise vital money for vulnerable children - and how you may be able to use their tips as you plan your event.
