There are lots of ways you could find new box holders but it’s important to find the ways that work best for you. Here are some ideas:
- Put an advert in a newsletter or local newspaper
This is a good idea even if you are recruiting in other ways as it reminds people who to contact if they are interested in becoming a box holder. Make sure the advert says who you are fundraising for and how to contact you.
- Arrange for a speaker from The Children’s Society to give a talk
A talk from one of our many speakers could be a perfect opportunity to ask the audience to sign up for a collection box. Call our Supporter Care team on 0300 303 7000 who can put you in touch with the regional fundraiser in your area.
- Ask your family, friends and colleagues to get involved
Let your family and friends know how easy it is to support us by taking a collection box. By donating in this way they can make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
- Host a community event
You could organise a cake sale or a garden party for your church, school or community group and take the opportunity to give out boxes. If there are events already planned, why not get involved and go along to sign people up?
- Make an announcement in a church service
This is a great way to let lots of people know that you are raising funds for our work. If you’re not comfortable talking in public, you could ask your vicar to speak on your behalf.
- Use our free resources to advertise
We have flyers and a poster to help raise awareness of your box network. You can order these from our Supporter Care team or download an order form.
