Event ideas and planning

There are many ways you could organise a carol-singing event to fit your interests.

They include events:

In your community

You could spread the cheer by singing and collecting door-to-door or in your local town centre (perhaps by the Christmas tree), station or supermarket. It is a great way to get everyone together, from the local Scout or Guide group to families new to your area.

With a choir or orchestra

You could turn a concert or performance you already have planned into an event for The Children’s Society, by doing a collection or donating some of the ticket money. Or link up with other choirs in your area to create a unique event.

At your church

Holding a carol service is a great way to fill your church, celebrate Christmas and raise funds. We have a new carol service outline that makes it really simple to hold a carol service, enjoyed by all.

At work

Why not combine your Christmas party with a carol sing song in the town centre or have a bit of karaoke - or 'carol-oke' - fun. You could even get competitive and hold a team v team carol sing-off to see which team can raise the most in one hour.

Use our sign up sheet to get carollers involved.

With your social group

Perhaps you are part of a choir, youth group, WI, book club, orchestra, or sports club. No matter the social groups you are part of, why not celebrate Christmas together by organising a simple carol singing event? You can simply pick a date and a spot to sing then ask everyone to join.

If your event doesn't involve collecting in public, you could have a stay at home sing-along. Each person could bring a contribution such as mince pies, mulled wine or hot soup and rolls and each donate £5-10 for the evening. (We have a fab mince pie recipe.)
