Hilton in the Community Foundation

Hilton in the Community Foundation logoIn March 2010, Hilton in the Community Foundation generously donated £28,500 to the Secret Jungle project in Margate through their 'Small Change Big Difference' fundraising campaign.

The Secret Jungle is a walled garden designed around the needs and wishes of disabled children.

It offers children of any disability the opportunity to enjoy a stimulating and fun environment, with sensory gardens, play equipment and a picnic area. Parents are able to use the garden to relax whilst their children play in a safe area.

The garden is also open to non-disabled children and their families, promoting inclusion within the local community.

Care suite

With the Hilton in the Community Foundation's donation, we will build a specially designed care suite in the winter of 2011, ensuring that disabled children and their families can make use of changing facilities with the garden.

The suite will include a changing bench, toilet facilities, hoist and rails and non-slip flooring, totally meeting the needs of disabled children. The care suite will enable families to come to the garden from further away and enjoy the play area for longer. Over 1,500 children will benefit from the garden and the care suite every year.

What our relationship with Hilton in the Community Foundation means

Louise James, the Grants, Fundraising and Communications Manager for Hilton in the Community Foundation, said: 'Hilton in the Community Foundation is delighted to be supporting the Secret Jungle project. We are encouraged by the positive feedback about the garden so far and look forward to the care suite being built and benefiting thousands of children every year.'

Anne Rayment, Programme Manager at our The Children's Society in Kent programme, said: 'The care suite that the Hilton in the Community Foundation has helped to fund has transformed the Secret Jungle. The changing facilities that it provides, affords children and young people of all abilities the opportunity to get on with what's important - playing outdoors! We also think it looks pretty good too!'
