We have set up a child-centred research programme on poverty that will be the first, long-term study into low-income children’s lives in the UK.
Carried out with Professor Tess Ridge at the University of Bath, this ground-breaking research will follow a group of children from low-income families over a number of years as they negotiate their lives at school, home and in their neighbourhoods.
It will provide a unique insight into the challenges and demands that poverty in the UK can present for children.
This project follows the launch of The Children's Commission on Poverty, which aims to put children's views and experiences at the heart of the current debate around poverty. This new research will allow us to explore further the issues raised by the commission.
