The Self-Evaluation Tool is a simple quality assurance system to help churches to run their youth work more effectively and efficiently.  It is designed to give an overall picture of where a parish is currently at and identify what changes are needed to improve outcomes for young people.

Composed of seven 'standards', covering the main aspects of youth work that churches need to address in order to achieve positive results for young people.  It enables churches to see where they currently are in terms of best practice, determine where they want to get to and identify what steps they need to take to get there. This is done by:

  • Improving communication within the church
  • Clarifying aims and objectives of youth work so staff can focus on achievable outcomes for young people
  • Improving team work
  • Providing more participation opportunities for young people
  • Helping with funding applications and reports to funders
