Volunteer coordinator: Joanne Thorpe
This exciting initiative matches volunteer mentors with young refugees or asylum seekers (mentees) aged 11-25 who are new to the UK.
Mentors offer support and help on a range of issues such as learning English, familiarity with the local area, accompanying young people to appointments or simply someone to talk to.
Mentors are trained and CRB cleared and commit to meeting weekly with young people. The programme aims to:
• decrease social isolation of mentees
• develop volunteering opportunities with hard to reach volunteers.
