Blackpool Children's Rights Service (BCRS) opened in 2009 and is a service for children and young people who are receiving support from Blackpool Council. If a child or young person has a social worker, youth offending team worker or leaving care worker, they will be able to access our service.
Our service offers advocacy support to make sure children and young people can share their views and opinions. If a child or young person wishes to make a representation or complaint about a service they are receiving we can help with this. An independent visitor scheme matches volunteer visitors with children and young people who have lost contact with their birth families. The aim is to build up a great, trusting relationship.
Our LACES service helps young people to get a six-month work placement, one day per week. We are currently developing this service in Blackpool. Volunteers are recruited to help mentor and support young people. We support children and young people to get involved in forums and meetings where they can make their views known about services and help decision-makers to make things better.
