Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services Review

The Children's Society's response to the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services Review is informed both by The Children’s Society’s practice, policy and research and evidence submitted to the The Good Childhood® Inquiry from over 9,500 children and young people and over 1,500 professionals and other adults. Our experience tells us that it is imperative that any services aimed at improving mental and social well-being incorporate an understanding of the specific needs of particular groups. We welcome the Review’s inclusion of all services from universal to specialist in its remit as a very positive way of considering the promotion of children’s and young people’s mental health. However it is certainly not our experience on the ground of how services are configured, commissioned or perceived. We have structured our response to provide evidence from children and young people; and consideration of universal and targeted services where we have expertise to offer.
