Stars Come Out To Support The Children's Society 125th Anniversary Ball
The Children's Society celebrated its 125th anniversary in true style on Wednesday evening with a fairytale themed ball at the historic London hotel Claridges. In the presence of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester guests were joined by an array of celebrities including Claire Sweeney, Dr Gillian McKeith, Lorraine Chase, Bernie Nolan, Vanessa Feltz, Michelle Dewberry (winner of this years BBC2 series The Apprentice) and star of The Chronicles of Narnia actor William Moseley.
Performing songs from Stephen Sondheim's hit musical 'Into the Woods' was International Soprano, Maggie Preece, the voice of Minnie Driver in Hollywood Blockbuster, 'Phantom of the Opera'.
Bernie Nolan, who flies to China at the weekend for The Children's Society trek on The Great Wall, said "What a fantastic evening. I'm thrilled that over £100,000 was raised for such a great cause. My husband and I are off to China on Saturday for the trek - we won't be eating like that for a while! Well done everyone at The Children's Society for such a great night!"
Bob Reitemeier, Chief Executive of The Children's Society, said: "The ball was truly magical and I'd like to thank everybody who helped make the evening a huge success. The overwhelming generosity of our guests has ensured that we can continue our life saving work with the most disadvantaged children and young people in England."
